The Film Federation of India’s official entry for the Academy Awards (The Oscar) 2015’s Best Foreign Language Film category, is co-produced by Malaysian company PetraTara Studios – a subsidiary under the PETRA Group. Directed by Geetu Mohan Das, an India-based film maker and actor, Liar’s Dice has been attracting the attention of international movie lovers as it made its round at various high-profile film festivals, including premiering at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. Liar’s Dice, which received the Hubert Bals fund from Rotterdam, is Geetu’s first feature film. Prior to Liar’s Dice, Geetu, along with her award-winning director/cinematographer husband, Rajeev Ravi produced her first short fiction film, Kelkkunnundo. The film premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival and subsequently won three international awards. Shot by Rajeev, Shot by award winning cinematographer, Rajeev Rai, the movie follows the story of Kamala and her 3-year-old daughter from a tribal community on the Indo-Tibet border. They embark on a journey in search of her husband who goes missing after having left for work many months. Along the journey, they encounter an army deserter, who decides to accompany them to their destination. The film has won two National Film Awards in India for Best Actress and Best Cinematography, a special jury award at the Sofia International Film Festival as well as the Best Actress Award at the Annual New York Indian Film Festival.
